Well, what a night! I’m on the first day of my five day holiday and I’ve just come back from the Bon Jovi concert at the Air Canada Centre. While I’m not the world’s greatest Bon Jovi fan, I am most definately a fan of the lovely JBJ himself. He’s a hottie, that’s for sure. 15,000 screaming women and one steamin hot guy. That’s a whole lotta drewl to clean up off the floor, you know. We had great seats (as we should for the price), plus he kept popping up on different podiums all over the stadium, much to the crowd’s delight. I guess that’s so all the ladies could get an eyeful of those tight little buns, and a flash of those oh-so-perfect pearly whites of his. I tell you, if you could bottle that smile… Anyway, enough of the dribbling.
The concert was pretty good, although not totally rockin’ (nor in the same league as U2). They played quite a bit of new stuff (a bit melodic for my liking), interspersed with some old classics, which got everyone on their feet. JBJ looked exhausted, which - considering his recent loss of life - is actually not a bad state to be in. If you didn’t hear, the media reported him dead a few days ago after his plane skidded off the end of the runway in Hamilton, ON.
So, the best tune of the night had to be ‘Living on a Prayer’. The crowd rocked, and it put the best smile on his face. Did I mention he’s super hot when he smiles? Mmmm…. *slurp*

Happy New Year, peeps! Here’s to a year of good health, laughter, love, wealth, and peace.
And I’d like to raise a toast to another great year in the Beach. In just one summer I’ve been lucky enough to meet a whole new bunch of people, and to make some awesome new friends. Five of the finest. most fearless femme fatales you could ever wish to meet, for starters. Friends I know I’ll still be laughing with when we’re doing wheelies in our wheelchairs in our 80’s (probably in rehab/an asylum somewhere). Bottoms up, ladies, here’s to Summer 2006!
Here’s a few glimpses of what I got up to in 2005…

My blog was empty it’s been so long!! Anyways, been v. busy just lately, but that’s a good thing I can assure you ;o) I will write more soon, but in the meantime here’s a photo taken by Sam from my beach (don’t you love how it’s ‘mine’ now?) at NIGHT. This shot is taken on a 1.30m exposure, hence it looks like daylight. Wow, I wish I could take pics like that, it’s just beautiful. Thanks Sam .
More soon peeps x

I made it! I finally moved into my beach pad. Luckily, I didn’t need goggles in the end.
I’ve been in here just over a week now and I love it. The view from my front window is lovely, the neighbours are really friendly and today it’s 27 degrees. What more could a girl want? 2 weeks off work would be nice, now I come to think of it.
My Dad phoned on Friday and asked if I could pick him up at the airport at midday on Monday. He decided he needed to come over and make sure his little girl was doing all right. All a bit last minute, but he’s staying with me for a couple of weeks and it is, of course, good to see a friendly face. Unfortunately my Mum (hey Ma!) wasn’t feeling too good last week, and decided she’d be better off at home with the cat, who’s also sickly at the moment - the poor old things.
I’m convinced my Dad’s going to be bored out of his mind, though. I’m working all day and knackered when I get home. My place is tiny and you can only walk up and down the boardwalk so many times in a week!
I get the impression he’s quite taken with the place, nevertheless. He’s not the only one either. So far, it’s been pretty good. It promises to be a fun-packed Summer, too if Sheila, my new neighbour upstairs has anything to do with it.

The cute little beach pad isn’t quite so cute under a foot of water
Unfortunately, the mains pipe burst in my building at the beginning of the week. More unfortunate still is the fact that the pipe was located directly beneath my stairs, so the water ran straight down my hallway (past the newly-carpeted bedroom) and directly into my living room. I was supposed to have moved some stuff in last weekend, but the snow/sleet/rain was just so completely miserable that I chickened out. A darn good thing, really.
Also, when I went to see it, the apartment was smaller than I remembered, barely enough room to swing a cat, actually. But that’s cool - it’s by the beach and right on the lake - I’ll survive for a year. Anyway, hope to move in this weekend if it’s dried out by then. Hopefully I’ll be buying sunnies for the beach and not goggles for the pad!
Hope you’re all well. Will catch up with letters/emails/calls when I’ve done the move (and got internet/phone). As of Saturday I’ll be on my mobile (cell Can. transl.) More soon, peeps. ttfn x

“The Canadians are going to serve the President Canadian beef for dinner. Is he eating it?”
Read the text of a press briefing with White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan yesterday.
Now that just tickled me pink! For those who don’t keep up with the Bush administration’s antics in Canada, the US border has been closed to Canadian cattle since May, 2003, after one cow (yes, 1, uno, ein, lone) “Canadian” cow, tested positive for Mad Cow’s disease.
Just the one, hey? Isn’t it odd that there was just one lonely little cow in the whole country - funnier still that it was found by our friendly neighbours just over the border there. A simple and effective way of punishing Canada for not backing them up in their war efforts, perhaps. Nah, silly me, Bush is just a ****ing ****!
BTW, the U.S. beef ban is said to have cost Canadian farmers over $4-billion (£8.5b). That’s what you get for sticking to your morals - it maybe painful but boy, was it ever the right thing to do. At least one Prime Minister had the balls to stand up to Bush.

Feel a bit yukky today - think it’s the full moon or sommat
My new 70-300mm lens came yesterday, though - yay! Haven’t had chance to use it yet, but we’re supposed to be getting an eclipse tonight, so I might get m’tripod out and see what’s going on up there - that is, if the cloud isn’t floor-level like it’s been the last few days.
Internet’s still dodgy, too

My internet connection is up and down like a yo-yo at the moment. Blog updates may be infrequent (like they aren’t already).
Right, must get off to ebay before it bombs out again….
