Life’s a beach

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

I made it! I finally moved into my beach pad. Luckily, I didn’t need goggles in the end.

I’ve been in here just over a week now and I love it. The view from my front window is lovely, the neighbours are really friendly and today it’s 27 degrees. What more could a girl want? 2 weeks off work would be nice, now I come to think of it.

My Dad phoned on Friday and asked if I could pick him up at the airport at midday on Monday. He decided he needed to come over and make sure his little girl was doing all right. All a bit last minute, but he’s staying with me for a couple of weeks and it is, of course, good to see a friendly face. Unfortunately my Mum (hey Ma!) wasn’t feeling too good last week, and decided she’d be better off at home with the cat, who’s also sickly at the moment - the poor old things.

I’m convinced my Dad’s going to be bored out of his mind, though. I’m working all day and knackered when I get home. My place is tiny and you can only walk up and down the boardwalk so many times in a week!

I get the impression he’s quite taken with the place, nevertheless. He’s not the only one either. So far, it’s been pretty good. It promises to be a fun-packed Summer, too if Sheila, my new neighbour upstairs has anything to do with it.

Beach Pad Update!

Thursday, April 7th, 2005

The cute little beach pad isn’t quite so cute under a foot of water :( Unfortunately, the mains pipe burst in my building at the beginning of the week. More unfortunate still is the fact that the pipe was located directly beneath my stairs, so the water ran straight down my hallway (past the newly-carpeted bedroom) and directly into my living room. I was supposed to have moved some stuff in last weekend, but the snow/sleet/rain was just so completely miserable that I chickened out. A darn good thing, really.

Also, when I went to see it, the apartment was smaller than I remembered, barely enough room to swing a cat, actually. But that’s cool - it’s by the beach and right on the lake - I’ll survive for a year. Anyway, hope to move in this weekend if it’s dried out by then. Hopefully I’ll be buying sunnies for the beach and not goggles for the pad!

Hope you’re all well. Will catch up with letters/emails/calls when I’ve done the move (and got internet/phone). As of Saturday I’ll be on my mobile (cell Can. transl.) More soon, peeps. ttfn x
